And of course there is the all-consuming void of video games, TV and the internet that may, at times, seem to be his only interest in life. There must be something greater that can occupy and excite his young mind.
My personal experience
When I was a teenager I can remember experiencing many of these things. I was struggling to find a purpose, resistant to my parents and confused about my future. I needed direction and some way to find a meaningful path for my life.
Your teenager may be unsure about where he fits in the world. He may be confused about his emotions and certain relationships in his life. There is so much to figure out, without even thinking about the big unknown that is his future. Even though you try to guide and influence him, your teenager may seem immune to your positive efforts.
New Teen Visioning Program
In my therapy practice and in many interactions with other teenagers, I have observed these struggles and I decided that I wanted to find a way to help guide young people in this challenging process. This is why I am offering the Teen Visioning Program this summer.
What is Visioning?
Visioning involves the development of a plan, goal, or vision for the future.
The Visioning process will . . .
- Provide hope and encouragement for your son to make positive changes
- Support the creative thinking needed to imagine an exciting future
- Develop passion that will help your son find direction for his life
Your teenage son will be happy and successful when he has goals to work towards and pursuits in his life that are meaningful. Let me share with you how this program can help your son.
How this works
The program format consists primarily of group meetings with 4-5 teenage boys in each group. There will be a total of four 75 minute weekly group meetings with the addition of one supportive family meeting.

The group meetings will allow your son to identify his personal strengths, imagine a successful and exciting future and discover new possibilities and opportunities. We will use a combination of personality testing, creative arts and group discussion to help your teenager focus on learning about himself and finding his unique vision.
There will also be opportunities for your son to integrate any relevant cultural or spiritual elements into the visioning process.
The benefits of a group setting for your son
In a group setting, your teenage son can listen to the experiences of others, which can help him understand himself and not feel so alone. Teens are often more open to advice and feedback from peers as opposed to adults. A group setting is a perfect format for this type of experience.
You will also get the added benefit of a family meeting with your son, which will provide extra support and encouragement in helping him to find his unique purpose. He will be able to create a meaningful support network, including his friends and family, which will help him to put together an action plan to carry out his vision.
Who is this program for?
The Teen Visioning Program will benefit any teenage boy, ages 14 to 18 who is open minded and willing to explore his interests and imagine an exciting future.
There will only be 5 openings for the group beginning in June.
When does this program take place?
The Teen Visioning Program will start on Wednesday June 22nd at 6pm.
We will meet in my office: 2455 Bennett Valley Rd. Ste. 210C in Santa Rosa.
The weekly meetings will be held on four consecutive Wednesdays from 6-7:15pm. The schedule is listed below. The family meeting will be set according to your schedule following the group meetings.
1st Meeting: Wed. 6/22
2nd Meeting: Wed. 6/29
3rd Meeting: Wed. 7/6
4th Meeting: Wed. 7/13
Family Meeting: According to your schedule
In the event that the group is unable to make a particular meeting, we will be able to reschedule as needed.
